Session 00: Ghosts in Yellow
The Crew
- Pradeep Patel (PP) - Nomad - Codename: PP
- Lucian Darkhomme - Solo - Codename: Le Poing
- Akechi Goro - Netrunner - Codename: Cipher
Night City
A neon-soaked corpse of ambition and excess. Megabuildings scrape the sky while the streets grind up dreamers who thought they were special. The megacorps run the world, and you told them to go fuck themselves.
You're Edgerunners - survivors who live in the margins, doing illegal work so long as it pays and doesn't get you flatlined. Nobody survives solo for long, so you formed a Crew.
And today, the Crew got a job.
Call from the Badlands
For PP, family always comes first. When Dakota Smith - nomad fixer and kin - rang his holo, he answered without hesitation. She kept it short:
- Meet a client at Honest Stan's Self-Storage
- Location: outskirts of Night City, where asphalt turns to dust
- Client description: "Look for a cowboy."
Helping Dakota meant helping the family. Smart move.
Firefight at Unit 300
Honest Stan's was a graveyard of ancient cargo containers. Only two vehicles sat in the lot:
- A dust-covered Chevillon Emperor
- A beat-up REO Meatwagon ambulance
Gunfire echoed through the yard.
Unit 300 sat at the center of a firefight: REO Meatwagon employees trading shots with a lone cowboy. Walking away was an option - but getting paid meant choosing a side.
The Crew backed the cowboy.
The fight ended fast. All REO gonks were neutralized except one, who managed to escape into the Badlands.
Client: Falco
The cowboy emerged from the storage unit.
"Y'all must be the Crew sent by Dakota. Name's Falco."
A tired man. Polite. Carrying grief like old scar tissue.
Falco checked his unit while the Crew looted the bodies.
Loot Recovered:
- Constitutional Arms Unity (Exotic Heavy Pistol)
- Data Shard
- Handheld Tracking Unit
The Real Job
Falco explained the situation. Someone broke into his unit the night before. He scared them off, but they escaped with items that held deep sentimental value.
Stolen Items:
- Militech M-10AF Lexington
- Arasaka HJSH-18 Masamune (pink-painted muzzle)
- Arasaka TKI-20 Shingen (black with a pink skull decal)
- A bright yellow REO Meatwagon jacket with a neon green "ER" on the back
Payment Offered:
- 500 eddies per person per item returned
- 1,000 eddies group bonus if all items are recovered
Falco admitted he wasn't rich - just trying to climb out of a hole. With a successful Trading push, he'd offer "something extra" at the end. He also offered 500 eddies upfront for one item.
Cipher refused the advance, citing personal principles. Falco respected the decision.
The Data Shard
Falco asked to inspect the shard. After reading it, the truth came out.
The jacket once belonged to David Martinez - Falco's friend, now dead. David inherited it from his mother, a former REO Meatwagon employee. Every issued jacket contains a biomonitor and tracker, normally dormant until REO downloads the data at HQ.
A megacorp buyer wanted David's biometric data.
The tracker had been silent for a long time - until last night.
One single ping.
Here.
Lead Acquired
The handheld tracking unit briefly activated.
Last known location:
Bradbury & Urmland Street - Little China
Falco smiled, though the weight in his eyes never lifted.
"You best be off. Call me when you've got my mementos."
Falco claimed the REO Meatwagon ambulance, explaining it would be delivered to Dakota - medical supplies, wheels, and partial repayment of a long-standing debt.
Session Status
- Client secured
- Combat resolved
- Emotional stakes established
- Next Location: Little China
- Objective: Track the thief and recover Falco's stolen memories
Night City doesn't care about the dead.
But sometimes... Edgerunners do.
